About “Go See the World”

Hi! I’m Aaron and this is a site dedicated to my goal of seeing the world.

I come from a traveling family. My grandmother founded a travel agency in San Francisco’s Chinatown that took people to Reno to gamble and all across the world. My mother continued the agency and helped people reach their dreams of seeing the world.

And then there’s me. I’ve been a consultant, a banker (sorry), and a director of a nonprofit. And when I’m not traveling for work, I’m headed off to parts unknown.

For the story of why I created this site, see my first post called “Setting the Course.”

I’m sad to report that Sharon Lee, my mother and the woman who inspired this blog, passed away on June 20, 2016. In her memory, I continue to travel and see the world knowing she would have been there traveling with me if she could.

Occasionally I rough it. Sometimes I travel in style. But I always love to find a good story and create new friendships. As you read through this blog, you’ll discover a few types of posts:

  • Destination” posts might speak of the advance prep on a particular trip and will definitely contain the entirety of the trip. Longer trips will be broken down into separate posts to make it easier to read.
  • How To” posts are designed to break down logistical challenges into easy to follow steps, with reference links as needed.
  • Thoughts” are exactly that. Sometimes rambling. Sometimes coherent. But always with a goal of sharing information with you.

I would love to hear any comments or thoughts so leave them in the comments box below. Thanks!

-Aaron
