The last time I posted a trip was September 3, 2024. And that was a trip we took in June of 2023 – so my time to complete posts is taking me more than a year — which really sucks.
And in the time since we went on that June 2023 trip to Portugal, my life has been rather chaotic. Let’s discuss how so.
- Lost my job in October 2023
- Spent the winter working through therapy with my wife
- Decided to separate from my wife in January 2024
- Spent every day in pursuit of work, landing a part-time contract gig with a startup called Crew, that built a really cool career design platform
- Launched my consulting/speaking business, InclusionAF, which has gone on to deliver workshops for companies like Constellation Energy, Google, Digital River, and others
- Got a full time job running DEI and Culture for a medical device company
- Moved to New Jersey for that job
- Rolled off my role as co-president for the Midwest chapter of an Asian leadership development nonprofit
- Struggled through the process of divorce, being geographically distant from my two kids, and trying to figure out a new life with friends in a new place
This is not a pity party post. But it’s part of the reason why my travel storytelling has seemed so bare, when in reality it has been anything but. Since June 2023, I have traveled to:
- Austin, TX
- Baltimore, MD
- Cartagena, Colombia
- Nashville, TN
- New York and New Jersey (so many times)
- Las Vegas, NV (x3)
- San Francisco, CA
- Portland, OR and Tacoma, WA
- Washington, DC
- Delhi, Jaisalmer, Jaipur and Agra, India
- Savannah and Atlanta, GA
Those posts are forthcoming. And they’re spectacular.
And 2025 has a few more places on tap. So hang with me while I navigate this chaotic thing called life. More fun stories to come, and with it, more joy in my life. Thanks.
